Artificial General Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence

Everyone knows that AI is nothing but the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. But not everyone is familiar with the term AGI. Most formally, we can define it as, "AGI(Artificial General Intelligence is the hypothetical ability of an intelligent agent to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human being can."

In simple terms, it can be defined as "General AI is a type of intelligence that could perform any intellectual tasks like humans. The reason for the development of this type of AI is to mimic the smartness and efficiency of the human brain."

AGI differs from AI in that it is unpredictably creative. AI follows a strict series of rules. Regardless of the number and complexity of those rules, there is an order, precedence, and method to following them. Intelligence is taking facts (data), algorithms, and theorems and applying them to answer a question or solve a problem.

AGI takes it a step further and proposes the additional "what if." It is an oversimplification, as is my basic statement, but it is the spark of human creativity that separates AGI (also known as strong AI) from standard AI. I should also clarify that it isn't merely the addition of random chance to the mathematics of AI that makes AGI although there may be a small amount of randomness in creativity, there are far more variable than that. For example, two very different humans (A1 and B1) may do something or react to the same conditions in the exact same way for completely different reasons. While two other humans (A2 and B2) will initiate other actions or react very differently to the exact same situations or tasks, even though each one of the second two each has a great similarity to one of the original pair.

AGI is an intelligence model that has the data, understands situations and tasks, learns and applies new information, and makes choices that are based on a combination of what is known and what is speculated. This intelligent 'guess' portion of the process is essentially the butterfly effect of creativity. It still needs an empirical foundation of data, and decision processing algorithms of AI-first as filters to prevent mere random guessing of solutions and ideas.
At present, there is no such type of system exist which could come under general AI.
