Tesla to build robot prototype next year

Elon Musk revealed that Tesla is working on a humanoid robot and will probably launch the prototype "sometime next year".

During the company's AI day, on 19Aug 2021, Musk revealed that Tesla gonna work on its new robot prototype and will be displayed in the real world by the year 2022. Musk said that the bot is intended to do the tasks that are "Boring, Dangerous and Repetitive". Tesla's CEO believes that the bot will be able to perform tasks like going to the store to fetch groceries or helping fix cars, but on a larger level, he predicts the creation will have "profound implications" for the economy.

The robot will be 5.8 feet (1.8m) tall and weigh 125 pounds (57kg). It will be able to move at a speed of 5mph (8 kmph) and carry 45 pounds (20kg) of weight and would be capable of deadlifting 150 pounds and carrying about 45 pounds. It will have a screen on its face to give useful information to its users. It'll be equipped with 2 axis feet for balancing, Force feedback sensors, 40 Electromechanical actuators, human-level hands, and many more features.

The bot would use Tesla's Autopilot software which is based on the same chip and censors used by Tesla's self-driving cars and the bot have eight cameras to feed into the neural network it's developed for its Full Self-Driving software.

Human-like robots have long been a fascination in pop culture. But creating a human-like robot that can perform human tasks has proven incredibly difficult. Artificial intelligence has improved rapidly but remains far behind the general abilities of even a human toddler. Robotics applications have been restricted to basic tasks in simple environments, such as carrying goods in a factory or autonomously vacuuming a home. However, Tesla's Bots will overcome these tasks too.
He also said,"In the future, Physical work will be choice. If you want to do it, you can, but you won't need to do it."

On its website, Tesla said it is seeking Mechanical, Electricals, Control, and Software engineers to help leverage their expertise beyond the vehicle fleet.
